•Founded & organize the international Cilia Trainee Slack 2020-present
To promote networking and community, I founded and organize the cilia trainee Slack workspace. We have virtual journal club, share protocols, have social meetings, and generally provide support for one another.

• Founded & organized the Seattle K99 Peer Mentoring Group
After learning about peer mentoring via my role as UW Postdoc Association Co-Chair, I implemented a K99 peer mentoring group, which was highlighted in Nature Careers (10.1.19 “Four ways scientists band together outside the lab”). We consolidate resources, review components, share successful applications, and provide general support. In response to the pandemic and the opportunity provided by virtual meeting platforms, we have expanded nationally and now provide peer mentorship for ~40 postdocs. Press from Nature Careers
• Founded & organize the UW Cilia Journal Club 2016-2022
To foster collaborations between investigators working on a range of ciliopathies and physiological processes governed by cilia, I founded a monthly multidisciplinary cilia journal club at the University of Washington. We have ~10 labs involved working on the following topics: iPSCs and kidney organoids to model polycystic kidney disease, hair cell development of the inner ear, planar cell polarity, neuronal migration, G-protein signaling in Giardia, stems cells (hESCs & iPSCs), neuronal signaling, microtubules, and kinesins. This group is used to present original work for discussion and relevant paper presentations.
•University of Washington Postdoctoral Association Co-Chair 2016-2019
The mission of UWPA is to foster professional development, promote networking, and actively advocate for the >1200 UW postdocs. To ensure continuity of our fledgling organization, we wrote and ratified bylaws and held our first official election during my term. As co-chair, I chaired board meetings, managed our internal communication mechanisms, wrote our monthly newsletter, and generally oversaw all the other bodies and activities of UWPA. At times of understaffing, I served as treasurer by applying for funding and managing the budget. I served as a liaison to the UW Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. I have also organized a workshop on scientific outreach and participated in the organization of three research symposiums.
